Learning Community Certificate Requirements
You are expected to be an active member of the Delta Learning Community as you work to complete the Certificate requirements. The Learning Community is special in that it is both intergenerational – comprised of faculty, staff, graduate students, and post-docs – and interdisciplinary – bringing together researchers from science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and from the social, behavior, and economic (SBE) disciplines. The Learning Community components include;
Cross disciplinary and/or multi-generational
Focus on some element of teaching and learning
Integrates the Delta Pillars
Expands the capacity of the community
Reflection (written or verbal)
Learning Community Participation
Participate as a Member of a small discussion group in one of the Delta Program offerings;
Creating a Collaborative Learning Environment (CCLE) - Year long program
Expeditions in Learning (EL) - Semester long program
Research Mentor Training - Semester long program
Assume a Leadership Role as part of the Delta community;
Delta Central member for one semester*
Steering Committee member for one year*
CIRTL Network liason for one semester*
RoundTable Table Facilitator (4-6 events)
Develop a New Initiative that incorporates the Delta Pillars as part of a new learning environment. (Work with Delta staff to insure your new initiative fulfills the Learning Community criteria)
You are expected to be engaged, committed, and to contribute intellectually. Your contributions are crucial to implementing new ideas that continually improve the Delta Learning Community. You should include evidence of your participation and a reflection on your experiences in your portfolio.
